In a country running on frail threads of communal harmony very recently saw an unusual congruence . . . ,
Shankaracharya, Jayendra Saraswati of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham in Tamil Nadu joined hands with Ulemas & Imams of highest Islamic ranks for the society.

This event was marked on the occasion of Jayendra Saraswati's 75th birthday. He said, the Hindus & Muslims of India have always been like Ram & Lakshman,

The mothers of Ram and Laxman were different [Kaushalya and Sumitra], yet the love among Dashrath's sons was unparalleled while Bali and Sugriv were born to the same mother but were enemies, he said referring to Hindu epic Ramayana.

It was a positive sign of communal peace which seemed to be threatened after 26/11 attack. Event reverberated with Sanskrit chants along with echos of Allah-O-Akbar. Unlike the mean political drama of bringing Ulemas or Sants for that extra votes and political mileage, this was an all honour event.

This era is changing. Personally, I have a huge lot of muslim friends whose friendship I cherish.

Despite those political parties which vie for an extra vote bringing lot of disruption to the brotherhood amongst us.

                                      We fancy that Uncanny Indianism...
