Recently, I read an article on ibnlive/blogs by Vir Chakra awardee Wing Commander(Retd.) Abdul Nasir Hanfee on our country's defence preparedness.
After reading the article, I felt we won't have a Gen next to live, if we happened to go out on a full fledged war with one of our neighbours. We would be wiped right from our cradle to our grave.

He has thrown some candid light on the situation of our armed forces, or rather our "un"armed forces. It was not cynical rather metaphorical to what globalfirepower.com regards as World's fourth largest army or maybe they just meant we are large but not technically advanced.
I was running a little thought process into where lies the problem. Answer, Irresponsible citizens.
Our responsibility as citizens does not end with extending our ardent support to the Indian cricket team. But there is lot more to be done, if we would like our generation next to survive.

First, perhaps most important of all is exercising your right to choose. Because, all these incompetent, ill-educated, remorseless humans govern us only due to our indifference. If you think its ubersexual to abstain from voting or being least bothered about our political scenario then I think there is some serious introspection on your part to be done. There are lot others things where you can be uber-cool.
Choose wisely, We are not running a beauty pageant to vote for someone just because they are presentable in the media. We need people who can stand up and face the music. We need someone who says, yes I am accountable, we need someone who has in them to say yes or no without being waffled. Lastly, We need someone at whom we can look upto and say, yes we have a leader.
Wish we had Indira Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi or Vajpayee in the centre.

Pay your taxes, it's pretty naive on my part to say this, and I know the Government has taxed even our fart. Nonetheless, Please pay your taxes. Because the government runs short of money to decide on various budgets. Here our defense needs are failing.
How much of your savings can you enjoy, if your country is wiped out in a war or if your GenY is bereft of a life.
Save wisely, Save enough.
Likewise, Unflinching Indianness is what we need. I'm always skeptical on people's patriotism. Because, when it comes to religion we are divided, when it comes to language we are divided, when it comes to caste we are divided.
The relentless pursuit among the people to prove that they belong to better creed, caste, or religion has to be abandoned.

To stand a war, stand together.

Finally,
May be the article has made me hypothetical or even paranoid. But mark my words, it is certainly something which can happen.
Well yes, In my last post, I said "We are the only race with a blessing on our heads". But how much of a blessing can help us when we don't put in our collective efforts.
We cannot let our country down, for we have loved her so much.

Jai Hind...
